Are Botox Injections Good For You?

I wonder how many people that have used Botox beauty treatments know that it is made from from a bacteria that paralyses the nerves. Though Botox shots do not offer a permanent cosmetic surgery answer to eradicating lines, they do provide a potential answer for anyone dealing with an aging and wrinkling face. Frowning creates lines on the forehead which often makes a person look older and these are the creases Botox aesthetic interventions are most normally used to reduce. Botox treatment is also very quick by cosmetic surgery standards and it is quite natural for the process to take no more than 15 minutes, depending on the areas that need attention. The furrows close to the mouth, forehead and eyes related with elderly can visibly vanish within only a few days after the Botox injections have been dispensed.

When a person is given a Botox injection, the neuro-toxin paralyses the muscles that control furrows close to the eyes and forehead for instance so that there is little or no movement from them. Because the Botox cosmetic treatments are not permanent and work by only temporarily paralyzing muscular tissues, repeat Botox interventions are often needed, in fact multiple treatments are recommended for optimal results. Botox is a natural protein and after Botox shots or Botox creams are used, some puffiness, bruising and numbness are common, but no recuperation time is normally required.

As luck would have it, there are few Botox side effects and despite the fact that a neuro-toxin is used to create the anti-aging effect, it is still a safe intervention. Ice is used before and after the treatment to minimize soreness, which is minimal and lasts only a few seconds. Because Botox cosmetic interventions help relax the muscular tissues, creases fade slowly as do deep laughter and frown lines.

For individuals who suffer with acne, scarring, Botox shots are administered to help ease the effects or to help soften old skin. While almost anyone can have Botox aesthetic treatment, it is famous people that we learn about having it done although aesthetic surgery does have a serious side and isn't always about conceit. As a general rule, men normally choose less-invasive surgeries such as Botox injections, collagen injections, chemical peels and microdermabrasion for instance.

The uses of Botox aren't just limited to cosmetic treatments either as it has other useful health attributes. Botox has been found to be efficient in reducing migraines, muscle spasms in the facial region and can help in excessive sweating. You should be warned though that it should not be used when a woman is pregnant or breast feeding. Over time, Botox injections will have to take place at greater time intervals because the muscular tissues that are injected atrophy and it needs longer and longer periods for them to recuperate. In the USA every year over one million Botox aesthetic interventions will be performed, making it the number one cosmetic procedure in America.

Using Botox Injections for Wrinkles

Using Botox Injections for Wrinkles

If you are intent on reducing lines associated with aging, the chances are you will use botox; despite how often this treatment is used, few people understand the method it uses. Despite its recent rise to fame, the original research into this product is a few decades old. The substance is derived from Botulinum toxin, discovered nearly five decades ago; originally the purpose of this was to treat neurological disorders.

A few decades later after much research, the FDA granted permission for it to be used medically and the first patients to make use of the drug were those with eye conditions; patients suffering with uncontrollable blinking and crossed eyes were given this and sometimes those who suffered with wrinkles as well. By the new millennium it had been approved for a number of other conditions including cervical dystonia; this helps people with contractions in the upper back and shoulder and neck area, plus other eye disorders. In their research, doctors discovered that Botox softened the frown lines between the eyebrows; it was after this discovery that it officially came into existence and was FDA approved for cosmetic use in 2002.

When Botox is injected into the muscles of the forehead, it blocks nerve impulses which results in the weakening of the muscles that cause frowning; eventually, over a period of several months, given enough of these injections, the frown lines start to soften. If this procedure is continued, in many instances the lines will soften so much they will seem to disappear; now the same procedure is used on other areas of the face where lines form, generally with age. The injections actually contain a purified form of the Botulinum toxin; these treatments are only a fraction of the true strength which, in other forms, could make us seriously unwell.

The problem is that when we laugh, cry or frown for example, lines and wrinkles appear caused by the muscles that have helped create the expression; these injections can help eliminate those lines. The wonderful thing too many people is the treatment can help reduce and often eliminate the signs of aging that have taken years to appear; many ‘skin age reduction cream' manufacturers have tried to produce creams that reduce facial line but this is the only treatment that works, currently. Because botox paralyzes the facial muscles, normal movement, expressions and gestures are almost impossible to make; because facial movement is reduced, it can give a doll like appearance to the user.

A person who has undergone this treatment still has enough movement to provide some expressions but they are limited; because most of the wrinkles and creases have all but disappeared, it appears that the person is younger than their true years. Injections of this very popular cosmetic treatment are still costly; this is why it has been coined as something only celebrities have performed because the least expensive injection can still cost upwards of 300 dollars to in excess of 1,000 dollars. Whether there are any long term effects from continued use of botox is still unknown as the treatment is still to new but for those people who do use it, it doesn't seem to matter.
